Why Wait?

THE WAITING PLACE

by Dr. Seuss

Waiting for a train to go or a bus to come,
or a plane to go or the mail to come,
or the rain to go or the phone to ring,
or the snow to snow or waiting around for a Yes or No
or waiting for their hair to grow.

Everyone is just waiting.

Waiting for the fish to bite
or waiting for wind to fly a kite
or waiting around for Friday night

or waiting, perhaps, for their Uncle Jake
or a pot to boil, or a Better Break
or a string of pearls, or a pair of pants
or a wig with curls, or Another Chance.

Everyone is just waiting.

…Somehow you’ll escape all that waiting and staying.”

Why wait? Why wait for the phone to ring from your agent or manager? Why wait to work on a specific character you would love to play?

Take charge of your career and do something that aligns with your dreams. Go after what you want! Is there a role you think you’re perfect for? Or perhaps, you have an idea for a character in your head and know that you need to get it out onto paper?

Why wait? Go do it.

The waiting game can get the best of us. We feel stuck or at a loss for what to do next. But you’ve got to break out of that box and do something different! Get out of your comfort zone, explore, create, try something new!

Escape all the waiting and staying like Dr. Seuss says and write that role you know you’re born to play. Double down on the characters that light you up and work, work, work on them in class. Get so good they have to say yes. What some people call the “down time,” is really just an opportunity for you to reassess, see the goal, and quite simply, go for it!

So go for it! What are you waiting for?! There’s no time like the present!
