There are pluses and minuses in everything.
“The pluses of life come with its minuses.” –
“Pivoting is not the end of the disruption process, but the beginning of the next leg of your journey.” –Jay Samit
“A pivot is a change in strategy without a change in vision.” –Eric Ries
With the recent articles on self-taping and casting offices offering taping services for a fee…we see and hear the frustration. There are many aspects that seem unfair and we know how much so many of you miss the casting room.
Self-taping has pluses and minuses, just like auditioning in the room had pluses and minuses. And the casting directors we know, truly want you to succeed.
But we do want to remind you that positivity when a pivot happens or feels forced upon you is the way to go. The positivity propels you forward. Taking positive action will make more of a headway than anything negative ever will. Remember, no one is forcing you to do this and pursue this amazing craft. You’re doing it because you love it, and it fills your heart and soul.
No matter your lighting situation or mic situation or camera situation–do your best. Focus on the work. Get so good at your craft, nothing else matters.
So. Whenever there’s a pivot, (and there will be more because that’s life), take a moment to feel however you feel and then move forward positively. Complaining gets you nowhere, but taking action in your life does!
We believe in you. You got this.
