“You can’t be that kid standing at the top of the waterslide, overthinking it. You have to go down the chute.” — Tina Fey

“If you spend too much time thinking about a thing, you’ll never get it done.” — Bruce Lee

“The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing.” — Walt Disney

Happy New Year! After a good rest and armed with your intentions, it’s time to get to work.  There is danger in lingering too long in the planning process.  Action is powerful. You will learn by doing.  Consider Newton’s first law of motion also known as the law of inertia.  It says that a body in motion will stay in motion and a body at rest will stay at rest unless acted upon by an unbalanced force.  Well… let’s consider the new year our unbalanced force and switch out our sweatpants for metaphorical business casual.  Let’s break down our intentions into small actionable steps and begin anew.

Hesitation and overplanning are a form of procrastination that everyone deals with.  Be gentle with yourself when they show up.  Tell that inner voice in your head that says you are not ready: “Thank you for the feedback but I am going to try this anyways.”  That same inner voice spoke to Walt, Tina, and Bruce so you are in good company.  Do the work, stay in motion, and beautiful things are bound to happen.  We at Shari Shaw Studios are happy to be in motion with you as you begin the new year.
