“Goals on the road to achievement cannot be achieved without discipline and consistency.” — Denzel Washington

“All successes begin with discipline. It starts with you.” – Dwayne Johnson

Your discipline and consistency as an actor are paramount.

A dancer will practice movement several hours a day, an artist will paint and create over and over again, a chef will develop dish after dish to get it just right–an actor is no different. Your creation is your craft and practicing that craft, however you want to mold it and develop it, is essential. Even if you have natural talent, practicing and having the discipline to practice are what keeps growth and maturity in what you do alive.

Discipline is what keeps you consistent. Consistency in your practice then leads to successes. It’s all process and when you break it down it becomes clear as to what steps are required to get from point A to B. And it’s not just steps in developing your craft with exercises, techniques, breath work, tips, tricks, etc.–it’s also the discipline to go out and network, doing your homework in what television show are right for you or what their tone is, making sure that your online presence is updated and current. There’s a lot of work to do when it comes to building a successful career, but do it, do the work, and you will create a career you are so proud of.

It’s possible and it all starts with discipline.
