“Acting is not about being someone different. It’s finding the similarity in what is apparently different, then finding myself in there.” -Meryl Streep

Actors always tell me about their audition experiences.  Some say they stand by the door and listen to the other actors reading in the room…not a good idea.  Some say they do their work in the waiting room and  stay focused and internalized and create vivid pictures with the lines they say…great idea!  Others say they’re just confused about what the casting directors are looking for…not a powerful choice and, in fact, it depletes who you are and makes you needy, which causes a downward spiraling effect in the room and you will not be able to tell your story with a beginning, middle and end.

Here is my opinion: you are artists because you have special quirks that make you YOU!  Your personality is what makes you vivacious, interesting, layered and different. Your choices as an actor reflect upon the truth of yourself.  Don’t ever try to change you.  Embrace you!  Celebrate you!  Discover YOU and tell your own specific story in that room.

Today is about discovering and sharing your personal Magic.  Create and tell your OWN story.

Happy Monday All!
